Our client, a nonprofit in Boston is seeking a Case Coordinator to provide direct care services to families eligible for Emergency Assistance and residing in motels. The Case Coordinator will support families as they work toward a goal of self-sufficiency.  Willing to train someone interested in human services field and direct care.  Hours for this position are Mon-Fri, 12pm-8pm.


  • Conduct intake and assessment of families residing in motels, and determine appropriate and timely direct services needed;
  • Provide overall orientation to motel/shelter including, but not limited to: introductions to other families residing at the motel/shelter, location of grocery stores and medical facilities, and motel/shelter guidelines, responsibilities and daily schedule;
  • Make appropriate referrals for on-going services (DCF, DPH FOR Families, DMH, DTA) etc.;
  • Develop strong understanding of available community support services and link participants to these services;
  • Assist families in accessing all available entitlements; 
  • Actively participate and engage families in Activities of Daily Living (ADL), including but not limited to: enrolling their children in school, assessing of physical and mental health care needs, addressing substance abuse issues, parenting skill development, safety issues etc.;  
  • Organize, identify and/or facilitate educational opportunities to families focusing on food shopping, storage and preparation, housekeeping, laundry, budget/banking;
  • Advocate for services needed for children and families;   
  • Provide crisis intervention support when appropriate;
  • Notify supervisory staff immediately in the event of a client crisis, suspected illegal activity, or any behavior constituting an incident in the program;
  • Determine children at risk and files 51-A’ s with DCF when necessary;
  • Maintain daily contact with families to ensure they are fully engaged and compliant with EA guidelines/expectations
  • Participate in on-call system, providing coverage during evening and weekend hours;
  • Coordinate health care concerns with visiting resources (DCF, DPH, DMH etc);
  •   Assist and encourage families to maintain a clean and safe motel room;
  • Maintain paper and electronic client records in accordance with standard format; 
  • Participate in entering data into ETO/HMIS within the time frame set forth by funding source and agency;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
  • Knowledge of homeless families and issues of poverty;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge about EA Rules and Regulations;
  • Develop helping relationships with families, emphasizing accountability;
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts Tenant Law;
  • Demonstrated mediation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Demonstrated motivational interviewing skills; 
  • Ability to respond effectively to crisis;
  • Ability to regularly work outside of normal business hours.  Employees holding this position will be paid at their normal hourly rate for all regularly scheduled weekend hours, and will not receive overtime pay for these hours (except for those hours in excess of 40 hours in a given work week);
  • Attendance and participation in CPR and First Aid and Infant CPR trainings;
  • Must pass a CORI check;
  • Valid driver’ s license, reliable transportation and ability to safely transport clients required;
  •  Ability to work within a fast-paced work environment and meet demands of a complex population;
  • Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural.
  • High School Diploma/GED and one to three years of experience in human services required.
